“Once in a while, serendipity brings us unexpected friendship. We met Mark at a local outdoor market when we were passing through the town of Stratford-Upon-Avon one November afternoon. We live in California and were just travelling through England with our three young children. We liked Mark’s work so much that we decided to ask him to capture the essence of our trip to Eastern Europe. We sent several photos we had taken in Vienna, Prague, and Berlin prior to our trip to England. Mark remarkably crystallized our wishes and truly created an artwork that embraced our vision. He drew the beautiful Charles Bridge over the Moldova River and Melk Abbey (Vienna, Austria) in the background. He even succeeded in letting the notoriously unique building of Berlin Philharmonic somehow co-exist in the historic town of Prague! What a talent... We could only hold our breath when we opened the large shipment from the UK. The artwork instantly became our family treasure.

Finally, and perhaps, most importantly (to us), Mark is an extremely pleasant and personable individual who is always courteous and helpful. This warm predisposition reflects on his artwork. He offers a uniquely personal touch in his painting. For an example, he goes out of his way by including our family members into the paintings. His kindness, integrity, honesty, and love of humanity all truly come together in the creation of his brilliant artwork. Although we have met Mark only once, we certainly feel that we have come to develop a special friendship.”

“Dear Mark, I just had to write to you to say the most sincere thanks for the portrait of our cottage which has exceeded all our expectations. The house, our neighbours and the area are all very special to us and you have completely captured how we feel about living there. How you have managed to create something so evocative without meeting us or visiting is amazing, but then you have been so attentive and thoughtful since I first contacted you that I feel perhaps you have got to know us and our way of life a little and this is reflected in the painting. It certainly feels deeply personal and enormously special to us.

It has been such a pleasure dealing with you. Our almost daily communications were so reassuring and I was confident from our first conversation that we ‘got’ each other and you had a feel for the house and garden. You have even painted the planting and colours in the garden just right in your lovely vibrant colours and the views beyond are perfect - I love the bales in the autumn light.

The painting is in our dining room now and just sings out. It is a great conversation piece which will last long after we have forgotten Nigel’s birthday and our friends and neighbours who feature in it, just love it.

You have created something which will give us pleasure for the rest of our lives. How wonderful to have that talent. You made me feel that you enjoyed doing the painting at the time and I think that comes through very strongly. Very many thanks."

“Mark I just wanted to drop you a line and say thank you very much for the portrait that you did of Fosters Green Farmhouse. Simon and I were really thrilled with it and felt that it really captured both the look and the feel of our home. I particularly love the detailing of the brickwork and timber on the house. We’ve hung the picture on the wall in our sitting room and it looks great! It has had a lot of very nice comments too.”
