A Painting From The Land of the Ice and Snow

For the past five years Mark has contributed a painting for National Doodle Day which is then auctioned in aid of Epilepsy Action. Alongside Mark’s paintings are other celebrity drawings and pictures from the likes of Miriam Margolyes, Alan Titchmarsh, Sir Ben Kingsley, Lorraine Kelly, Sir Peter Blake, Fay Ripley, Grayson Perry RA, Debbie McGee and Richard Curtis amongst a host of others. This year’s doodle is an original oil sketch of Hallgrimskirkja, the iconic church in the centre of Reykjavik in Iceland. After a hotly contested battle between a number of collectors the A5 oil sketch of Hallgrimskirkja Church in Reykjavik fetched a very respectable £230 and was in the Top 5 of the best selling pictures this year. Philippa Cartwright, Fundraising Manager for Epilepsy Action said “We always look forward to receiving the parcel every year from Mark which contains his picture, as you never know what to expect. He never lets on as to what it contains, but every time without fail we are in awe with the results. This year’s was no exception and we just enjoyed having it in the office before it went up for auction. Even passing visitors commented on it’s colour and vibrancy.”
