Commissions

A painting that tells your story

Stuck for the perfect gift? A hand-painted house portrait or holiday commission is personal, unique, and something to treasure.

why a Commission?

The gift they'll never forget

Whether it's a birthday, anniversary, or wedding — a commission from Mark makes a truly memorable present. He can paint your family home or capture a favourite holiday spot, with family, friends, pets, and wildlife all included as characters.

Two Types of Commission

  • A painting of a traditional Dutch-style house with exposed brick and timber framing, surrounded by trees and a lush green landscape, with a cobblestone driveway and a small garden with chairs in the foreground.

    House Portraits

Your home painted in all its glory — house, gardens, and every detail that makes it yours.

What to send: 30–40 photos of the exterior and gardens, plus any people, pets, or details you'd like included.

  • A painting of a white church with blue domes and crosses, situated on a hill overlooking the sea with green hills in the background.

    Holiday Commissions

A special place captured in one painting — the whole feeling of a holiday, in a single scene.

What to send: 5–10 photos of a holiday destination that is special to you and your family. They can be your own photos or photos found online as reference.

Previous Work

  • We first saw Mark's work at a stall in Stratford upon Avon. With no originals available, we commissioned a house portrait, and two years later we're proud owners of one of his original oils. Mark's vision is unique — his artwork can be formal or playful, but always a pleasure to hang on your wall."

  • "I've admired Mark's work since seeing it at the Affordable Art Fair. My partner commissioned a secret house portrait as a birthday surprise and had Mark present it to me in a hotel garden — I was speechless. The painting is superb, full of detail and care. Mark is warm and empathetic, and those qualities are a big part of the magic that makes his work so special."

  • "I commissioned a house portrait as a wedding anniversary present after discovering Mark's website. Working entirely from photographs, he captured the charm of the house and garden beautifully, including the wildlife and small details I'd requested. It was a pleasure to work with him, and the result was well worth the wait."

  • "Thank you so much for our house portrait — it exceeded every expectation. Your attention to detail is amazing; even now we keep noticing things we missed at first. You kept us informed throughout and seemed as excited as we were. The painting has pride of place in our living room and makes us smile every time we see it."

  • "Mark is a delight to work with — warm, friendly and deeply attentive. He captured our home and lives brilliantly, and the portrait is now the focus of attention in our home, with visitors always spotting new details to delight in. His work exceeded our expectations and made a truly priceless gift. Mark kept in touch throughout, and we've become great friends along the way."

  • "We'd admired Mark's work for years before I commissioned a painting to mark our 25th anniversary — a surprise for my wife. Mark took great care exploring ideas and researching the composition, and the result is fantastic — better and cleverer than I imagined. He's captured a classic Warwick streetscape and made it personal to us. I'd proudly display this painting in any gallery."

  • "I commissioned a painting for my husband's 50th birthday, wanting something to remind us of the town of Southam where he grew up and where we'd spent 18 special months. After a couple of meetings, Mark created a wonderful village-style painting incorporating local buildings and history meaningful to Simon. We're completely delighted — we now have our own piece of Southam to hang in our home in Australia."
